Actually, Bitter One, FRENCH '24 is a much more elaborate series that will appear in two parts, a total of 33 films (nine more than Noir City!) with the first segment in early October (14 films) and the second segment right after Thanksgiving into early December.

The series will go on hiatus for awhile, we'll see when we come back. As noted in the Substack post, we'll have shown 155 rare French noirs, which is about 25% of the total number of films in what I call "the lost continent" that were made from 1931-1966.

With my book (also entitled THE FRENCH HAD A NAME FOR IT) coming out in time for Part Two, it's a good stopping point for now. In a few years there should be a solid additional backlog of films that will have surfaced in a form where they can be screened to American audiences, so at that point we'll make a decision about resuming.
