Katcher, originally from Turkey, was described by an IMDB reviewer as "a kind of MAD LOVE-Peter Lorre." Only shorter--apparently short enough to play Napoleon, which he did in SCARAMOUCHE (1952).



The desperate ambition of Katcher's character (in his many guises, as shown in the promo still above) seems to have dovetailed with Katcher's real-life ambition to be the mini-Orson Welles of the Z-movie. Watch RIGHT HAND OF THE DEVIL and decide for yourself if he "made the grade"...!
