...can we think of some more? Should we not also include s film like KISS ME DEADLY where Velda (Maxine Stuart) is kidnapped? And what about films in the 60s such as LADY IN A CAGE (a variation on a hostage noir) or KITTEN WITH A WHIP (where John Forsythe is forced on a hellish joyride to Mexico against his will? And how to treat the ending of a film like HIS KIND OF WOMAN?
Your thoughts and guidance welcomed here! (I'm agnostic WRT to collecting titles of hostage films in the post-classic period, but an example of one that's on the cusp is THE INCIDENT (1967)...
EDIT: Thanks to Colin for his input; others are encouraged to wrack their brains for more titles with some form of hostage or "held against one's will" element and post them in the thread, where we'll add them to this list.
With additional work at IMDB, the original list has more than doubled, from 36 to 76--making several "hostage noir" festivals highly "feasible" (to quote our old pal Elisha Cook, Jr.) Films suggested by Colin are bold type; other new additions are in italics. [2024 ADD: Films with <--- are ones definitely screened by Eddie at some incarnation of Noir City.]
I'm (still!) certain that there are more--let's get as many of them as we can before moving onto hostages in neo-noir...
