Those are interesting responses. The film has its moments, but is not tight. Chandler’s closing argument in the second trial goes on for more than eight minutes - it’s just not compelling enough to merit that amount of screen time.

I definitely agree that Cinemascope noir, both b/w and color, deserves a focused look. I seem to be watching a lot of the Universal examples on YouTube lately.
