It's literally an odd schedule, with 11 films, meaning that one of the features is not being paired with anything. That's a strange omission for a series predicated on pairing films together, but there you go.
The schedule:
Friday June 14
STREET OF CHANCE/NEVER OPEN THAT DOOR (Argentina)
Saturday June 15
ACROSS THE BRIDGE (UK)/ZERO FOCUS (Japan)
BLACK TUESDAY/HARDLY A CRIMINAL (Argentina)
Sunday June 16
UNION STATION/CAIRO STATION (Egypt)
SMOG (Italy)/CITY OF FEAR
Monday June 17
ELEVATOR TO THE GALLOWS (France)
At NC Oakland, ELEVATOR was paired with the UK heist film STRONGROOM, which kinda worked situationally; since much of the presentation of these films will be digital, I don't think that's the reason for omitting it here, but perhaps there was some internal issue at the Brattle that prompted this programming choice.
The Brattle offers a "discount" package of $80 for all 11 films, better than in most places but "hardly a bargain"--we apparently are now living in a world where there are no bargains...!
