Some fine titles here, presented in the standard jumble of atomized films with little or no relation to one another. One film (Across the Bridge) borrowed from NC Oakland/Seattle (but that was cut from NC LA). The noir western theme continues with Day of the Outlaw, which if the programmer had swapped Woman in Hiding to the 10am slot and moved Crime Wave to 4pm, would have created an unusual but interesting Andre de Toth double bill. For the first time in recent memory there will be several B-noirs in the festival lineup, which was the trademark of Art Lyons, the founder of the festival whose book Death on the Cheap remains a valuable reference guide for B-noir.
--->So there you go, Bitter One--are you going to go to the desert in May?
