The reviewer seems to like it more than the headline for the review seems to indicate...there's been a run on "hit man" post-neo-noir of late, which makes it somewhat imperative that folks who claim allegiance to the "form" should give these films a tumble.
AMERICAN STAR, like KNOX GOES AWAY an example of the "aging" and/or "infirm" hit-man category, was quite good thanks to really good work from Ian McShane; possibly Keaton and Pacino elevate what seems like a shaky or trite premise. Thus here's suggesting that you put it on your list to check out...
