Some good points, Bob. Several films in NC 21 were on the list submitted to the Roxie for MID/MAD in '22 (AIMLESS BULLET, ACROSS THE BRIDGE, SMOG) but didn't survive the cut due to the series being cut down in size from 52 to 36. Eddie certainly has contacts and resources for whatever obscurities have been given an extra level of care, whether by UCLA (SMOG) or other sources (keep in mind that BLACK TUESDAY was not restored by FNF, but through a consortium involved with Cinema Ritrovato).

So we should give credit where credit is due; and, being charitable here in the faint afterglow of the holiday season, note that NC's 2024 borrowings from previous MCP screenings are matched in number by the films that are actually getting presented to American audiences for the first time. (And, in fact, SMOG was screened at UCLA as part of their 2022 Festival of Preservation; so that last statement should be amended slightly to "are almost matched."

Though it will never be acknowledged by certain folk, MCP's work has kept many in the rep/revival business on their toes and represents the true vanguard of research and rediscovery of "lost/obscure" films.
