With plot elements lifted/shifted shamelessly from PICKUP ON SOUTH STREET, this 1961 film from William Witney (a director plugged relentlessly by Quentin Tarantino) tries a bit too hard, but it has a sweet variation on Jean Peters (the pert June Kenney) and a wisecracking analogue to Thelma Ritter (the voluble Billie Bird, as the aptly named "Mrs. Prattle.")
