Posted here previously, but few if any will be scouring the back pages for it, so...here it is again. Gary Merrill is an overambitious new police chief trying to clean things up and set the criminal element back on their heels; Jan Sterling goes platinum and pushes the envelope a bit (for 1954, at least!) in her striptease scenes.
Cinematographer Ellis Carter, who does solid work here, began his career as a second-unit cameraman for Alfred Hitchcock in 1940 (FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT), then moved into DP work at various Poverty Row studios over the next dozen years. He would eventually make a name for himself once he arrived at Universal, where he was the DP for several notable science-fiction films, the most prominent being THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN.
