Ubiquitous character actress Dale Dickey takes the lead in Canadian director Karl R. Hearne's THE G, a wintry "elder noir" (a sub-genre that many of us might well be able to relate to at this point in our lives...) that is just beginning its journey into the festival circuit.
Though the MovieWeb review is not quite a rave (3.5/5), Hearne's previous feature-length film, TOUCHED (2018) suggests that he's a director looking for stories that skip off genres like a stone skimmed off the surface of a lake...and, as anyone knows from attempting to do that with an actual stone at an actual lake, it's a feat easier said than done. Perhaps both films will eventually become more accessible to us and we'll find out if Hearne possesses such an uncanny knack...
