Speaking of generically unbound directors and Italian rarities on YouTube, I recently enjoyed an early Sergio Corbucci writing / directing effort, I ragazzi dei Parioli (1959), very much in La dolce vita mode:

Sharp cinematography here! The handsome young star, Raf Mattioli, would be dead of a heart attack a year and a half after this film opened.

I for one truly appreciate when available film and television rarities are brought to my attention. Although I subscribe to a lot of the relevant YouTube channels, and check rarefilmm regularly for updates there, it is so easy to miss things (and some of them come and go rapidly, of course). OK.ru is another interesting source.
