More signs that some momentum is developing after nearly a decade of FRENCH HAD A NAME FOR IT evangelism--Kino has recently released (with lamentably little fanfare) the Gaumont 2021 2K restoration of STRANGERS IN THE HOUSE aka L'INCONNUS DANS LA MAISON, directed by Henri Decoin from a Georges Simenon novel of the same name adapted by none other than Henri-Georges Clouzot.



Only a smattering of reviews for this first-rate effort featuring a towering performance from Raimu, but they are all positive; all are especially pleased with the 1080p transfer.

We were fortunate enough to screen STRANGERS IN THE HOUSE back in the spring of 2019 during FRENCH HAD A NAME FOR IT 5 1/2; don't wait for us to reprise it--buy the blu-ray so that Kino will keep licensing the slow but steady trickle of classic French noir as it emerges on home video....
