Based on all the supporting evidence, I'm figuring they do have a new print; that fact and the "home-town draw" factor could explain why it's in the lineup for NC Chicago (the Music Box promo material features it prominently).
It figures that we might see it in SF and LA next year should the FNF boys stick with the 75-year organizing principle (and they should, since 1949 is arguably a stronger "noir year" than 1948 was).
But my guess is that a certain amount of boredom that creeps in via showing some combination of the same two dozen films in the various venues explains some of the late-in-the-day changes that occur. That's also evident in some of the additional titles screening in Santa Monica (at Noir City "Hollywood") beginning this weekend...
