Heartening to see the UCLA Film and Television Archive program a series of social problem/social justice films in a series that began last Friday with a screening of Sam Fuller's SHOCK CORRIDOR.
The sad story underneath this ultra-rare double feature (THE LAWLESS--a personal favorite--and THE WELL) is that both films will be screened using 16mm prints. Those in the LA area should note, however, that the UCLA screenings at the Billy Wilder Theater continue to be free of charge.
These are two fine films that (again, sadly) remain relevant in our times; thus one sends kudos to Paul Malcolm (no relation) and the UCLA programming staff for putting these two films together (probably for the first time ever).
