Some liberties in the 75th anniversary schedule will be found in the listings below (look for the asterisks), but what the heck...
Fri Aug 4 KEY LARGO/SORRY, WRONG NUMBER
Sat Aug 5 HOLLOW TRIUMPH (matinee) A DOUBLE LIFE*/THE VELVET TOUCH (evening)
Sun Aug 6 THE HUNTED (matinee) CALL NORTHSIDE 777/LARCENY (evening)
Mon Aug 7 I WALK ALONE/T-MEN*
Tue Aug 8 CRY OF THE CITY/THE NAKED CITY
Wed Aug 9 BLOOD ON THE MOON/PURSUED*
Thu Aug 10 TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH/WHIPLASH
Fri Aug 11 RAW DEAL/HE WALKED BY NIGHT
Sat Aug 12 LADY FROM SHANGHAI/MOONRISE
Sun Aug 13 BODYGUARD (matinee) NIGHT HAS A THOUSAND EYES/THE BIG CLOCK (evening)
As has been the case all through the '23 NC schedule, downright strange tonalities abound in the double feature choices. Five Alton films in the mix for this 23-title festival, with a double feature on Friday the 11th...but why not put the two Mann/Alton features (RAW DEAL/T-MEN) together? Three films (TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH, WHIPLASH and BODYGUARD) really feel like filler.
Some 1948 films that haven't gotten a tumble in any of the NC series thus far:
BERLIN EXPRESS
BLONDE ICE
CANON CITY
I WOULDN'T BE IN YOUR SHOES
PITFALL
RACE STREET
THE STREET WITH NO NAME
THE SIGN OF THE RAM
THEY LIVE BY NIGHT
WALK A CROOKED MILE
Some of these may simply not be available in 35mm, but it's curious what is going on with PITFALL--it's definitely been screened in the past.
