Thanks, Bob. Your thoughts support Carl's point that there are a bundle of great Brit-noirs that don't get much (if any) chance with audiences anywhere, in the theaters or on the big screen. I think I'll ask Foster Hirsch to suggest a deep dive into this area by Bruce Goldstein, whose platform at Film Forum would allow him to do that. (My first experience with Lean's THE PASSIONATE FRIENDS, another film that should be in Imogen's festival lineup, was at Film Forum back in 2007. It would make for a startling contrast if it were paired with THEY MADE ME A FUGITIVE, giving us the two sides of Trevor Howard.)

One thing would help would be to set aside NIGHT AND THE CITY due to its large contingent of American actors and let in another worthy film that is more exclusively populated with British actors. (NIGHT AND THE CITY will definitely appear in a 75th anniversary lineup for NC in 2025, so it's not going to get lost anytime soon.)

Carl, if you have a moment, you might want to list the other 4-star titles "according to Keaney"--that would make it clear just how many excellent Brit-noirs there are to choose from...
