Much to the dismay of director Fritz Lang, the exact same tear gas plot device was used in the 1945 film "Dillinger" which starred Lawrence Tierney.

Lang attended a screening of "Dillinger" and he was shocked to see that Monogram Pictures
recycled footage of the armored car robbery from his film "You Only Live Once" into the low budget "Dillinger" feature.

No one had even bothered to tell Lang that the robbery footage had been sold to Monogram. All that director Max Nosseck needed to do was add some inserts of Tierney and Elisha Cooke, Jr., to complete the sequence. The rest of the footage was taken straight out of Lang's movie.
