Arbelos Films' connexion with the American Cinematheque in LA is long established, as one of its prime movers is Dennis Bartok, legendary programmer for the AC in the 1990s (and who also served as acting Executive Director during the first tumultuous phase of its ongoing relationship with Netflix). Dennis put a pronounced arthouse slant/spin on Arbelos, and that continues with TWILIGHT, adding another puzzle-piece into the mosaic of Eastern European "bleak week" cinema. And thus a West Coast premiere of TWILIGHT at the AC's outpost at the Los Feliz Cinema is a completely unsurprising development. It's been slotted into the 10pm slot on June 1st as part of the AC's second annual "bleak week" festival, which will saturate viewers with what is mostly a post-NV booster shot of ennui, decadence and dread. If any of our lurkers happen to be L.A late-nighters, that's definitely the event for you...
