I watched this again recently, too, and loved it all over again. I have a special affection (and yes, attraction) for all actors of the Dana Andrews type (John Payne, for instance), and so Mark Stevensí performance here is naturally one to appeal to me. He and Ball make a terrific team - is this her best work on the big screen?
Stevens, like many actors of the time, aged remarkably fast. I believe he was 28 when he shot The Dark Corner, and only about a decade later he looked bitter and used-up in two good films he directed himself, Cry Vengeance and Time Table.
