Given Eddie's unending love for FLY-BY-NIGHT, and his regard for Budd Boetticher, it's surprising that he's never seen fit to screen BEHIND LOCKED DOORS, one of Budd's noirs made a decade before he embarked on his notable series of westerns with Randolph Scott. It's a solid "B" with dynamic performances from Richard Carlson (who, of course, was the harried lead in FLY-BY-NIGHT) and Lucille Bremer--who, like Leslie Brooks, would marry and leave show business behind shortly after making this film. Alas, no YouTube link for I WOULDN'T BE IN YOUR SHOES, but we now have a good crop of B-noirs from 1948 that'd make a fine closing day marathon. Here's a variation using RUTHLESS as a lengthier bauble (Edgar G. Ulmer and that cast!!): Of course, you could also simply substitute MILLION DOLLAR WEEKEND into the mix: 1:00 INNER SANCTUM
