Leslie Brooks, possibly remembered by many of you as the attractive but shady girlfriend of Dr. Bartok (Paul Henreid) in HOLLOW TRIUMPH, gets her big chance to play a full-out femme fatale here and doesn't muff it. She'd shortly retire and marry Russ Vincent, one of her co-stars in BLONDE ICE who'd also leave the business and become a prominent land developer--part of the cadre who surely-and-not-so-slowly removed all the orange groves from the San Fernando Valley. Miss Brooks passed away--in Sherman Oaks--at the age of 89 in 2011.

Given Eddie's unending love for FLY-BY-NIGHT, and his regard for Budd Boetticher, it's surprising that he's never seen fit to screen BEHIND LOCKED DOORS, one of Budd's noirs made a decade before he embarked on his notable series of westerns with Randolph Scott. It's a solid "B" with dynamic performances from Richard Carlson (who, of course, was the harried lead in FLY-BY-NIGHT) and Lucille Bremer--who, like Leslie Brooks, would marry and leave show business behind shortly after making this film.
