Kit Noir's fourth film noir festival is not quite the series Dan Hodges would program, but it does move us in a direction that recognizes the contribution of women behind the camera (as noted in the blurb announcing the dates for the festival--March 1-5, 2023, at the Lensfest Center for the Arts adjacent to Columbia University).
The series will feature ten films showcasing women in creative roles such as producer, screenwriter, source novelist and director. Given that the Kit Noir programming has not been particularly adventurous, we ought to be able to guess all ten films that they'll be screening. I urge you to take a crack at it, using the categories above--and I'll start off by listing the director (a dead giveaway since the blurb states "and, in one instance, as director").
So #1 is Ida Lupino and THE HITCH-HIKER.
Go from there and determine which producers (coughJOANHARRISONcough), novelists (coughDOROTHYBHUGHEScough) and screenwriters (coughKETTIFRINGScough) are likely to be showcased via the remaining nine films...
