She was a beauty and it was not uncommon for strangers to ask to photograph her.
One shutterbug who was interested in her had also photographed Marilyn Monroe's nude pictorials that wound up in "Playboy" magazine.
Zika decided to try her luck at modeling and was featured on billboards promoting "Eastside Beer." Was that the preferred brand of Leo Gorcery and Huntz Hall? The billboard advertising campaign led to Zika being offered movie contract from Warner Brothers.
Ann Zika (a/k/a Angela Stevens) described her career in no nonsense terms:
"I really had no desire to be an actress. People used to stop me on the street, photographers mostly, and ask me if I'd pose for them. So I was doing that for nothing until someone suggested I ought to be getting paid for it."
"To me, it was just work. You go, you say your horrible lines, you get paid. I am glad I did it though, and it is something fun to talk about if anyone should ask, although I don't normally mention it otherwise. It was a section of my life that was interesting and I was glad I took part in it."
Her quote "You go, you say your horrible lines, you get paid" could be an apt description of the production of "The Hoodlum."
