An IMDb review of The Turning Point mentioned "The Captive City" (also 1952), a much different telling of organized crime, that builds slowly and more realistically, making it far more suspenseful and scarier. I thought it would have worked better had it not been told in flashback. The cast of unknowns (to me, anyway) made it that much more believable.
I'm sure others here (all five of you) can do a better job comparing and contrasting the two movies.
