June Havoc is also on hand as a has-been diva susceptible to temptation in exchange for a chance to over-emote on stage again. The third juror being punked is Eduard Franz, a WWII refugee whose wife (played by Maria Palmer) is pining for her lost son and falls for Toomey's bait.
The script and story here are by John Klempner, whose claim to fame otherwise rests on his source novel "A Letter to Five Wives," which wound up losing a couple of them before reaching the screen courtesy of Joseph L. Mankiewicz as A LETTER TO THREE WIVES--which may have kept Klempner from trying to have five jurors tampered with.
Surprisingly good, but don't hold out for a "noir" denouement...
