Spending some off-hours time sampling the variable fare at CrimeReads, where they can seemingly get on just about every possible side of the femme fatale issue...but this essay is a nice introduction to one of the more underrated crime novelists of the 1950s/60s, Charles Williams (whose novels were featured in two excellent late noirs, THE 3RD VOICE and JOY HOUSE aka LES FELINS, and in more than a dozen neo-noirs, the latest being 1990's THE HOT SPOT.
A solid appreciation from Andrew Cartmel.
