Kino Lorber is killing it with its classic blu ray releases. Obviously, I'm eagerly awaiting Shakedown, but the projected three-film set that includes Johnny Stool Pigeon and The Raging Tide is also high on my radar. There could be hope for The 3rd Voice yet. Off the path a bit, but I was stunned to see that TCM aired Looking For Mr. Goodbar this past week, a film that has been in mothballs for several years and isn't on any home video platform, and it's still up for viewing on the TCM app through the end of the month. Just thought I'd pass that along for 1970s movie fans. It's just another film from that era that shows how far American cinema has slipped. I'm guessing it's ripe for the Criterion Channel since there seems to be a lot of overlap between CC and TCM. It's a grim film but if CC can show Al Pacino in Cruising it can certainly air Goodbar. It's Diane Keaton's best-ever film performance, IMO, better than Annie Hall the film she won the Oscar for the same year. Finally, a prediction: David Ortiz makes the Hall of Fame and nobody else.

I don't know how many folks have viewed the Kino Lorber blu-ray but it's a good investment ... a much better print than I've ever seen and a fine commentary track by Imogen Sara Smith. Imogen also has a nice extended session on Criterion's Nightmare Alley (1947) release, more informative and the interesting than the actual commentary from my view.
