Carl, do you have any idea concerning the status of the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre on the west end of the Marina District? It seems to be the only other venue with more than 1,000 seats in a single theatre space within the SF city limits. The first portion of NC 4 was held there fifteen years ago, but I can't recall any other events of note there since then. I would assume that once the Castro was "out of play" for the FNF this fall, they might have looked into it.
Without a venue of that size, the logistics for NC become more complicated and it may be impossible to return to the crowd levels that were obtained thanks to the Castro's generous seating capacity.
Ah, well--no more "easy money." As Jack Lemmon said (and I'll sorely miss the chance to see him say it while watching him in THE APARTMENT while sitting at the Castro): "That's how it crumbles, cookie-wise."
