Not much meat on the bones of the accompanying article, but if you are an intrepid enough bargain-hunter you should be able to avail yourself of the clues for how to see Joel Coen's THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH for free on Apple+ TV. Apparently the magic date is a week from this Friday (January 14).
Ever wonder how many feature film versions of MACBETH are out there to watch? The IMDB listings are tricky in that there are some films with MACBETH in the title that aren't versions of Shakespeare's play...so we're going to punt that question on first down.
However, an interesting offshoot in MACBETH's on-stage lore was produced in 2021 with somewhat less fanfare that Coen's big name (Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand) version...VOODOO MACBETH, a recounting of the infamous version of the play staged in 1936 by Orson Welles with an African-American cast, was completed by a ten-director tag team at USC's film school earlier in the year and created enough buzz to appear in nearly two dozen film festivals after its completion.
