Reed was an actor who was engaged in a significant number of radio broadcasts rather than films. For many of us, he was the original voice of "Fred Flintstone" in the animated television series.

For our parents and grandparents, radio was as big a deal as television is today. Sadly, the tube killed radio dramas.
