Part of the recent set of Kino releases that included THE ACCUSED and AMONG THE LIVING, as Kino fills in some gaps in Paramount's classic noir filmography.
The reviewer fails to mention that the disk includes a commentary from Imogen Smith (who often turns up on the noirs with more "melo" characteristics).
I seem to recall someone pairing this film with NIGHTMARE ALLEY, though I don't think it was either Elliot or Eddie who did so--kudos to that forgotten film programmer, though, as I think it's a fine double bill. John Farrow should've cast someone other than William Demarest as the cop, and John Lund is once again his lackluster self; fortunately, Edward G. Robinson carries this film single-handedly with a big boost from moody, dynamic visuals supplied by the great John Seitz.
