In other words, there may be a small pattern here: For both GONE and THE GENERAL'S DAUGHTER, my appreciation goes against the grain of professional critics. However, I'm unrepentant because I find that they "just don't get it" -- both of these films are far superior than they realize.
In my Addendum to GONE, among the variety of news reports I cite about sexual violations of women that authorities tolerated, most prominent in my catalog are those regarding the US military. The first one comes from when GONE was released and the next is from my update of the webpage during the pandemic. In short, like GONE, THE GENERAL'S DAUGHTER is as awfully relevant today as when it was made.
