Film Detective continues to ascend in the world of preservation/restoration as the FNF finds itself being given a good run for its money in what is supposedly its signature area. According to Pop Matters regular columnist Michael Barrett, FD's effort on THE AMAZING MR. X has resulted in yet another home run (sorry for the off-topic colloquialism, but it's Game Six of the World Series tonight...) and with the incomparable John Alton as the "amazing Mr. X" behind the camera, this is one release you are not going to want to miss.
Kudos also to Jason Ney, one of my very fortunate discoveries for the NC e-zine in the latter stages of the "old regime," whose work continues there occasionally to fine effect but who is now forging a separate, highly accomplished identity as a commentator of DVD/blu-ray packages.
