Perhaps we can eventually put together a full list of these TV noir remakes. This listing, which I don't recall seeing anywhere else previously, would certainly help fill the gap.
I sorted this list by director and in inverse order of screening date (so latest first, earliest last).
Some extremely interesting names attached to many of these episodes--and some that will probably have you scratching your head.

So that's 37 titles (if I counted correctly) from seven different directors over the series run. It's possible that the response to the then-rare 60-minute version of A PLACE IN THE SUN influenced the decision to expand to a hour-long format in the following year. And that's when the noir remakes really start to take off on the series...
One last note: James P. Yarbrough is definitely not Jean Yarbrough...two different guys.
