Are filmmakers in the time of COVID returning reflexively to a VERTIGO-like state of mind? That seems to be the thinking amongst some of the critics as they engage with the Hungarian film PREPARATIONS TO BE TOGETHER FOR AN UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME, which seems to turn some of the action in Hitchcock's film "on its head," so to speak.

Justin Chang (LA Times critic) is high on PREPARATIONS, as well as another one of 93 foreign films submitted to AMPAS for Oscar consideration, the French psychological drama THE TWO OF US.
