...not because the book is bad--it's actually pretty good, though its focus on "A" level film noir limits its value and doesn't really move the needle much per the previous work in this area (see Silver and Ward's THE FILM NOIR STYLE)--but because there is a printing error in the published volume that repeats a series of pages in a later section of the book and is missing around 12-16 pages of the text.
The problem has been brought to the attention of the author and the publisher, particularly given the not-inconsiderable price tag associated with the book...
