I ended up watching Modern Family and just checking in on Nancy Drew to get a grip on its plot. From what I saw, I won't watch the complete episode. good-bye Nancy.
However, I remain, so far, committed to watching Sumptown, because it seems the closest to noir on tv that I'm aware of. Sure, I wish that the CW's Nancy Drew was joining Sumptown in noir quality, but since there's been nothing like Sumptown since Veronica Mars, 13 years ago, I don't dump on the CW for failing to satisfy me.
Nonetheless, I'm grateful to ABC. Remember, Veronica was never broadcast on a major network yet, despite not having any significant corporate backing, it's a stone-classic tv show. In short, I'm thankful for what little the boob box delivers: in this season ABC and Sumptown.
