I just realized I have every Blackboard post about that NOTW, including some that, IMO, are embarrassing (e.g., Dan in the MW: "It's only a movie." That is, why have a serious/critical discussion about it?)
These posts, as I implied earlier today, agree that it is a film noir. Don is certainly entitled to say that it is not a film noir, considering the disagreement among compilers of film noir reverence books. That is, it's included by Paul Duncan, John Grant, Michael Keaney, and Spencer Selby. It is specifically called a "non-noir" by Bob Ottoson and not included in Andrew Spicer's noirography.
On my webpage in which I critique Elliot, I'm going to create an Addendum so that his full NOTW is posted (it went on the Blackboard in two parts).
