I wonder if someday if the festival programmers were to push the envelope a bit if Fleischer's "Compulsion" would be screened. Two other "Chicago" films that might be of interest would be "Knock on Any Door" and "The Man With the Golden Arm." Both of these titles are in the public domain. Each is good, but not necessarily great. "Knock on Any Door" had to be extensively revised for its screen adaptation to pass the censors due to its explicit content (racial, political and sexual) and the film does not emphasize that the novel was set in Chicago. The unnamed city in the film could be any place in the USA.
