My dear Grandmother was a wonderful, loving person, but, doggone that woman wasn't much of a cook. Everything was cooked in Crisco at 1000 degrees. As soon as the sausage was done, the eggs followed about 5 secs. later and had a crust on the bottom you could soul your shoes with. Every morning in school about 10 AM, it would start backing up on me. I thought heartburn was something everybody had. Her fried chicken was so crusty you could break a tooth on it.
