"I started with the Tamiya Bogue kit:

...(I'm using) the 5 Star PE set.
...After I gave up on waiting for the sun to come out, it finally did. However, I took these pictures in the house - not the greatest lighting:

...(My depiction of Nassau will be painted) in Measure 21 as she was off Tarawa on 20 November 1943. She had VF-1 on board for delivery ashore but she was needed to provide air support for the Marines on Tarawa as things weren't going as originally planned. She did a commendable job, providing 106 close air support missions and sustaining zero losses.
...(The 5 Star PE set) is pretty delicate:

I managed to screw up several of the parts and lose others. One Chief and two sailors jumped ship on me this morning. Guess they went on extended liberty. I have shore patrol keeping an eye out for them.
The 20's, and 40's on the PE fret were just too delicate for me and I screwed up every one I attempted, so what you see are the kit parts:

The aircraft fret has some really crisp castings of TBM's F4U's, F6F's, and SB2C's, none of which were aboard (at Tarawa). VF-1 was flying F4F's at the time. I have several decks waiting to be built, so the aircraft won't go to waste.
...This is where I am so far:
I hope to finish it before the end of the year but its slow going. I'll keep you up to speed as I make any progress that's noticeable.
GREAT, Phil!

Also - speaking of which - I notice you've completely painted/finished the PE flight deck (cladding) before attachment. How do you attach it so cleanly - yet firmly, without leaving any (noticeable) seams along the edges - such that you can pre-paint and even -decal the PE beforehand?
The World Wonders...(or at least, I do ).
Again, much-appreciated update, Phil - do keep 'em comin', buddy!
