"...I haven't fallen off the earth - yet! Here are a couple of pictures of (my build of) USS Platte (AOE 186):
This is a JAG Cimarron kit which I started around Thanksgiving as an 'easy' build to recover from (building) the AV-3 version of Langley...

...I'd planned to finish her by Christmas and start on Loose Cannon's USS Curtiss, so I could have both ready for our February JaxCon show. Do not EVER be tempted to ask me to estimate a job. When I took the kit out of the tube, I figured - there's not that many parts. Should be a piece of cake...

It turned out to be a real planning challenge with as much time looking at pictures as actually working on the model. I'm getting close to the finish line. I still have the safety nets for the helo platform, a crew, the decals (MAJOR task here), lots of antennae, a rebuild on the platform I destroyed, an H-46 to do, life raft canisters, a couple of forklifts and various other little tedious details...

(And, from back in December, 2011 )...I'm also hoping to get Okinawa ready. I have some photos of her that I'll send along shortly. I may wait a couple of days and give you the start to finish series...
...Things are great here - just not enough model building time...The 'other' Phil"
(Editor's Note: Hey, Phil! OK we're ready to take your Okinawa pics anytime now... Seriously though, Phil, your Platte is looking gorgeous - just like your Langley - and we'll be eager to see more pics of either and/or both!
And - FYI, and for the record: you are not "The Other" Phil, but The FIRST and ORIGINAL Phil, buddy! -Ed.)
