Gus' Best Ever!"
Thank you, my friend! Some notes on the bases...I like a small base if for no other reason than it makes it possible to handle the models without actually touching them. The wood for the bases are actually recycled award plaques from 10 years of shows and contests. The national flags are vinyl stickers available from multiple suppliers on-line. The acrylic rod is from Plastruct, the 3/16 size suitable for 1/350 scale and I usually use the 1/4 inch for 1/200 and 1/144 scales. The brass name plates are some of the photo-etch that comes with the Bronco Victorious and the HobbyBoss Astute...sorta nice touch. I used to use brass lamp finials for my stanchions, but the acrylic rod is ever so much easier to work with. That seems to become more important the older I get! All my latest boats built this year are going to JaxCon in February. With the Type IIB and the Type 206, I should have about an even dozen entries to help pump up the display numbers. I even have a Type 214 I might be able to sneak in if I don't encounter too many distractions.
