(This is the beauty of ModelFleet: you are continually learning new techniques, etc., from the other modellers!)
Seriously though, your builds sound fascinating - and now I'm going to have to see your M-103, too. (Bigger than an Abrams - that's f-ing BIG!!!) And I totally agree Tamiya is attempting to bait you into buying armor with that LCM - particularly with that box art you describe. Sounds like the old Revell FDR box art highlighting Savages on deck - except you couldn't get the Savages anywhere - until now, of course.
Before you close out your "armor phase", I may have to join you - perhaps for the next Garry Beebe memorial build - with Gary's Tamiya M-3 Stuart which I bought from his own, actual stash. I always liked the Stuart and also the Lee/Grant - all those asymmetrical little tanks - and cobbled one together, to feature it (accurately or not) on the foredeck of my Prince Georges AP-165 build.
Again, I wish I could help you out with the airwing for your Bogue (or any of your carriers) - if you ever bash up one in 500-600 scale, I'll be there (with at least some of their planes) for you, buddy! And your Pulaski upgrades are going in the mail today or tomorrow, at the latest.
Meantime, we will stand by for your posts on any- and all of them: show us their pics when (fully) dicked-with!
Cheers,
-Matty
