I hear tell that the Chicargo police, at one time, issued Indians to their left handed motor sicle officers. The others got Harleys. (the throttle is on the other handle) (Maybe it's the otherway around). The idea being the officer could throttle up with one hand and still have his shootin' hand free for shotting at the bad guys.

They've since modified their policy for drivin' and shootin' at the same time. Too dangerous for by-standers, I guess.
