The end of an era.... for real this time

Bret Favre ended his record setting streak of 297 consecutive starts last night when he was unable to play due to a shoulder injury suffered a week earlier. At 41 years of age, this has been a very tough season for Favre. After having a tremendous season last year with the Vikings in which they made it to the NFC Championship game, only to be defeated by the eventual World Champion New Orlean Saints (somehow that still just sounds wrong to say) emotions and hopes this year where sky high for the Vikings to finally get back to the big dance. But the best laid plans often fall short, as was the case this year. Favre has had possibly his worst year this year as a Pro. He has not been in sync with his recievers at all. The few wins the team has had this year were ugly. Sadly, to me, Favre showed his 41 years this year. He just looked old, tired, and out of it all season. But what a career he has had. One of the true great players in the history of the game. It looks like he may never take another snap. His shoulder injury looks to be a while in healing, and with only 3 games remaining in the season it's not certain he will be able to play this year. I hope he can though. Even if it's the last game of the season, a meaningless game as far as any play-off hopes. But it would be nice to see him play that last game, and hopefully play it well. He deserves it. Maybe it will happen.
