A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
Posted by Ninja on 17/10/2026, 18:34:45
The ego and lack of sound football judgment has absolutely screwed us at the top of the club.
Cannot argue with the run of success under NJ (the prem experience was his legacy) - a brilliant ride, but what has come since is utterly dire. Repeated God awful mistakes and failure to capitalise on the opportunity of a lifetime.
This period of failure lies firmly with the CEO and board. They didn’t have the football expertise and still don’t. Their ego stopped them getting in the right sort of football knowledge at the top of the club. They wanted to play fantasy football and fluffed it.
The last two managerial appointments were massive rookie risks at a time when we needed steel and experience. Both allowed to shape their own squads and playing styles. No Luton DNA and a massive waste of money. JW is no manager.
In most organisations the CEO would be held accountable and either forced to get some expertise in by the board or moved on.
The club has no backbone or standards. Found out and still nobody capable of dragging us out of this toxic state.
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
All well and good saying stand for election. Realistically no one joining now is getting it.
I can't go for it because I don't have the time to do it properly.
The general fan base consensus is, from what I can gather, is that most fans think the Trust won't ask serious questions because they're in sweets pocket.
The Trust do nothing to disabase this.
50m has gone from the club playing budget to PC. This was never meant to be the case. Will the club be paid this back? How much, exactly, will sweet and Moran make when completed? Due to the set up, will the club actually own the stadium? Will the Trust have shares? Why didn't we take the offer to build the stadium in exchange for the flats? Perhaps the Trust have asked all these questions, but it's pointless if only Crumpsall and 2 others know the answers.
Keep em peeled.
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
But, for the sake of argument, what was on the list, when was it presented and when do the Trust expect answers? Why have the Trust not mentioned that they have asked the questions?
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
Fucking hell that was in March! I thought you meant the Trust had asked more recently than that. A brief scan of my emails returns no answers to those questions, so have the club blanked the Trust on that since March???
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
The last email I can see, in my inbox, from the Trust on the 1885 questions states that they will continue to press for answers, and have reached out to the investors named in thr 1885 email.
That was in March. The Trust mightve met the board a few weeks ago but it's pointless if they aren't going to reveal the answers. What are they waiting for?
Rumour is now is that it's bad news and they've been asked to wait until it's revealed by the club first in programme notes. Maybe not true, but as with so much surrounding this club - appalling communication feeds rumours
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
Although we don’t know who is behind ‘The 1885’ group, the email contained a number of questions and allegations which we feel supporters have a right to have answered.
A Trust board meeting was held on Thursday where this was discussed, and we have reached out to the investors named within the document for answers.
So the Trust are relying on programme notes for communication now?
Because it's what people are saying to me.
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
OK so officially the delay in getting the response from the meeting out is waiting for programme notes?
Fair play to them. I just can't commit the time required to doing a proper job of it at the moment. Appreciate everyone's circumstances are different though so full respect to those who can. Excuse in quotes yet you call me snide....
Right but the Trust said some were and km just quoting that, as that's the email you told me to read. #defendanddeflect
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
The board meeting was confidential . There was never going to be an email about that, but there will be reference to it in the strategy workshop notes/email.
Excuse me for using the word snide, but that's the way you come across re this stuff: I'd also point out that I have said I think of you as otherwisea decent sort...I wouldn't bother responding at all if I didn't respect that
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
Right, so we're back to my original post - what is the point if only a handful of people know the answers to whatever questions were presented to the board?
Tbh crumps I'm really at a bit of a loss over this whole exchange. You've told me to read the Trust emails, which I have, only for you to then reveal the meeting was confidential, yet somehow I'm ignoring the trusts confidential answers??
I appreciate your last paragraph and I don't mean to be as antagonistic as perhaps I am sometimes because I do appreciate the time you put in, but I really am not sure what your point was in this
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
The last Trust board/club meeting was confidential - it was if you like a shareholders' meeting at which Trust members were represented. Any questions you have of the club, which you ask through the Trust, will be asked of the club.
If the answer is confidential, then the Trust should tell you so. I'd suggest the Chair, Paul, as the route for that.
There are very obviously things which the club will discuss with the Trust which can't 'go public'. It would be immensely naive to think otherwise. I know of such discussions but I don't know the substance: as I've said elsewhere, I live in a world where confidentiality is respected, and rightly so.
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
Right, but none of that really explains your earlier answers tbh.
Essentially it's Me: questions You: omg don't you read the Trust comms they met the board recently Me: yes but they don't answer anything You: the meeting was confidential and that should be respected
??????
Anyway I shall leave it here as I'm going to go to bed. Night.
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
Reading it all again I'm not sure what your point is here other than degend/deflect. Your whole argument is 'the Trust sent an email in March and met the board the other week - have you not bothered to read it?! Also why don't you just join the board'
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
Thank You And you are a pathetic, angry, defensive prick who takes every criticism of this shitshow personally. Take a look in the mirror. There is a reason you fall out with so many people !

Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
Not really, I agree with his post. There isn’t a need to expand.
I don’t imagine living so far away from Luton or being able to give up enough time is helpful for such a position. Otherwise, I’d love to.
However, before a time I can contribute in that way, I don’t think a Luton message board is a bad place to vent and share views. This board has always been so and I don’t know what your agenda is to try and shut down anything that criticises the way the club is being run. It’s odd.
Re: A tone deaf board and executive, culpable for the failures
Totally agree. Wouldn’t pay the money for an experienced DOF when we needed it. But have wasted millions on awful transfers, agents fees and wages . And we are now reaping what we’ve sown.
League one again ole ole
