Power Court

If it misses May 28 is it such a big deal? It’s coming, that’s all that matters.
An extra 6 months or season at Kenilworth Road, don’t mind if o do.

The end of April 2028 was the aim per a podcast the CFO did with one of the sponsors.
I can't see them hitting that date, but instead it'll be like the Bobbers Stand where it'll be a race against time to have it ready for a delayed home season in mid August 2028. Maybe they'll also open up with it only being 80% complete or with some of the services still being built? (Guesswork obviously).
Per further down this thread, clearly there's been an uptick in the work in the last couple of months - because there had to be. In mid-summer progress was very slow, with the weather contributing.

So in the summer it was too hot?? If we have a wet/cold/windy winter as predicted, what then?
Summer is the ideal time for getting ahead in construction. Longer daylight hours and mainly dry weather.
League one again ole ole

Me too! We would all have wanted a fan, or fans, who lead us to a new stadium, to be generously rewarded and that hasn't changed.
The truth is simple. If it was complicated, everyone would understand it.

It will cost us to extend the lease on Kenilworth Rd and maybe other costs. Personally the sooner we move to a fit for purpose stadium the better.

One of the first things 2020 did was arrange to pay Luton Council the going rate for the rent of KR.

It'll cost millions both in terms of lost revenue and project costs
Can't believe people are just shrugging their shoulders at this possibility (not saying it is delayed or anything before anyone jumps down my neck. Just responding to the point)
Re: Power Court

I try to see it as a fan rather than through other lenses. If it comes after all this time then I'm happy, even if there is a delay. If I look at it through a professional lense, I can't help but apply Conway's Law, and the way people communicate shapes what they produce. Communication on the project hasn't been great and maybe that is reflected in the outcome.
The truth is simple. If it was complicated, everyone would understand it.

Genuine question, as I have little knowledge of such matters, but if the stadium is delayed by a month, or even two, how does that equate to millions?
Surely in terms of matches it would be a similar case to our PL season, with any early home game fixtures rescheduled for a little later in the season? And in construction terms I understand construction workers would be paid for extra work, but surely the bulk of the project would be completed and it's a case of final touches at that stage?
All that seems to be happening is people using drone footage to completely guess at what stage the build is at by comparing it to still images from other stadium builds that are completely incomparable. From my layman's view, the progress seems to have really amped up over the last 6 weeks after the ground work had been established.

Agree even the Wandering Northerner geezer , says in equal measures “ progress seems really slow” then in the next breath states” I’m no expert”.
All I can say is as every week goes by, you can see progress, and it’s clear we are not building an identity stadium like Colchester or Brentford . Just wait for the “ Halo” floodlights to start, that alone should be an interesting fix( if they are still planned)
However I think an official update every 3 months maybe wouldn’t go amiss, maybe something from Mike Moran or that Construction chap we appointed a while back? Assume from what I’ve read a read of the Trusts recent meeting would contain an update?
Re: Power Court

The longer the project drags on the more it costs, think of it I. Terms of 100’s of people still on site being paid, profession teams, that’s before you count loss in revenue, having to rent KR longer.
The fact is the management team know this and whatever your opinion of them, you can bet they are working hard to ensure all happens on time.
For me, and I know there will be a certai poster ready to shoot me down, I still hope there will be an introductory offer at PC to all fans who chose not to take their season ticket money back during covid.

deeuu's post said "an extra 6 months or season at Kenilworth Road"
As I say, I'm responding to a point
Incidentally, wasn't the original move in date (post-Covid) 2024-25. Might be wrong but I'm sure that was said somewhere

I'm not so relaxed I'm horizontal about it, but in my head it's out of my control and I have to park it for stuff I'm really worried about - work, kids, impending doom and all that...
It's clearly happening from what we can see so that is the positive.
Is the "millions of lost revenue and project costs" a t i n y bit dramatic for effect? If we make millions in revenue from it a year off the bat, then happy days? Or are you thinking that the sponsorship from Elon Musk will not start until we're fully in?
(not saying you're wrong or anything before anyone jumps down my neck. Just responding to the point)
Re: Power Court
Posted by Music Critic on 14/10/2026, 15:21:03, in reply to "Re: Power Court"
£9 million less revenue when comparing a season in PC and a season at KR... is what I've heard
And millions more spent on the project at PC due to delays. This is why the client always seek assurances from contractors that things aren't over running which could lead to things spiralling, budget-wise
So, no not dramatic
The first point is might be incorrect or it might not be. From my experience on working on major projects (admittedly transport and not this type of build), the 2nd point is definitely correct
Re: Power Court

Fair points - thanks for clarifying.
From my experience of working on major projects (mainly system implementation, some acquisitions - no infrastructure or buildings) the laws I subscribe to are from Messrs Hanlon and Murphy
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity and Anything that can go wrong will go wrong
If we get an extra £9m income p/a from PC then that feels like a great result, all on top of our Sky money when NJ leads us back into the PL (Wilshere will take the Arsenal job after going unbeaten for the rest of this and all next season...)
