But you are 100% correct that the money spent on education and rehabilitation would make a real difference, not only for those leaving prison but society as a whole.

So you know pretty well then anger felt when some cunt choses into your house, pinch things, make a mess and leave you to deal with upset family members and that horrible few months after.
In my case we had to sell that house and move on.

The whole point of law is that it is in place for the good of all and penalties should be handed out without emotion.
Most burglary and petty theft cases are committed by substance abusers, if these people were helped to get their lives in order it would save the country a fortune and individuals like you and your family wouldn't have to go through that anguish.

The system we have is broken and getting worse because previous governments have wanted to look like they are tough on crime instead of actually trying to cure the problem.
Think he probably means that a lot in jail are foreign nationals , meaning send them back to there native country. Our jails just can’t cope now. Pretty sure soon enough ,there going to explode , screws are fighting a losing battle most of the time anyway.
Do you mean actual foreign nationals, or people descended from immigrants? Which we all are, until approximately 8,000 years ago, the whole UK was covered by a glacier, and no-one lived here.
There's been a number of cases in recent years where child rapists and molesters have been found, not guilty on appeal. If they had been executed, is that just a case of tough luck for the innocent man and their families.

I think we need to play direct and go at teams, with the players we have I don't understand why we think going sideways up the pitch is going to scare teams.
If someone breaks the law because they like doing something that's against the law, that's their tough luck if they get caught, tried, and sentenced to imprisonment.
According to the news yesterday they released when the prisons were 97% full......
And they can all cuddle up in beds together can't they?
But in all honesty it's the failure of a succession of governments for getting stricter on sentencing but not building more prisons. Perhaps they can put a number of less dangerous convicts in old army barracks or something....... Oh.
I guess the spare 3% is needed to facilitate the movement of prisoners from one jail to another.
Also, it's not a succession of governments. It's down to the last Tory shit show. The previous labour government built something like 28,000 places while the Tories had a net improvement of just 400 places over their 14 years
