    AB speech

Posted by MistyUser icon on 29/9/2026, 18:17:02

KS first act was to take winter fuel payments away from pensioner's. One of ABs first announcements is to take the triple lock away from pensioner's.
    Fair or political suicide?

Not all pensioners, those with only the basic State Pension, and no pension from former employers will have the WFA.

Oh, that's OK they. I can tell my old mum she's got nothing to worry about.

Burnham is removing part of the triple lock to help pay for OAPs social care that was outlined the other week. It will protect OAPs savings and property from having to be sold to cover that cost as is the case currently.

If you're going to make a statement. Get your facts rights. And put them into context.

Point of fact -under the new proposals any pensioner wouldn’t have been affected since Labour were elected in 2024.

I can assure it will help many pensioners who go on to need care later in life. Even you.

Your mum will continue to suffer more because her pension after 2030 will continue to rise by at least 2.5% or CPI?

Respectfully, do you even understand what it is you're so angry about?

We're basically out of money. The problem with the triple lock is that we can't afford it. Of course if NI had been routinely invested into a wealth fund we would be able to easily.

On the flip side, the state pension is pretty damn low for people to survive on so many pensioners can't do without it.

In reality it's a bit like winter fuel payments. It should only go to the poorest but of course . . . people will have been paying in for their working lives based on a promise.

We can't afford to provide mobility cars to people with anxiety or ADHD, why is it always the pensioners who have to pay the price? Hold on I think I might have the answer...

Geez, that old story. People pay for their own mobility cars, all the relevant Government department do is negotiate a deal with the car manufacturers and run the scheme (although that's problem done by some private company).

                          Farige Bought For £5m +£36m +£36m =£77m That's corruption.

                                Go on then enlighten us.

Just for perspective. Mobility allowance scheme in total, so not just cars is approx 7 billion. State pension approx 150 billion. Is that the kind of answer you were thinking of?
